Alive

by Cross My Heart

No polish, no sanding down. Alive captures Cross My Heart much as they sounded back then: punk kids from the last days of second-wave emo. Ryan Shelkett pulls no punches with his vocal delivery, while Chris Camden, S. Dwayne Bruner and John Mattingly put an exclamation point on every line. Quiet when it's needed, loud and unhinged when it fits, and downright mean when that's the honest option. Recorded in Baltimore on the coldest night of the year, in front of a packed Ottobar.
